My Definition of Digital Learning and Why it is Important

Digital learning is a tool for both teachers and students to use to enhance learning. Using digital learning, students can further engage in their learning by being able to research, explore, and even play interactive games to promote learning. In order for digital learning to be successful in the classroom, teachers must do more than give the students a laptop or an iPad. They must make sure they have content to be taught utilizing the technology. An example of digital learning in the classroom is Epic Learning. When students use Epic, they are able to read books that are at an appropriate level for them as readers. This way, they are not reading books that are too easy, nor are they reading books that are too difficult for them.

Digital learning, when used correctly, can be a very important tool to teachers and education as a whole. With continuous improvements being made in technology, teachers can use technology and digital learning to promote learning across the classroom at the various needed levels. This makes tiering assignments easier and can also help with student accommodations if they are needed (larger text, audio books, visuals, etc.)
