My Introduction

Hi there!

My name is Kelly and I am a current student as St. Andrews university. I live off campus in a small town about 20 minutes from the school. I am a double major in special education and therapeutic horsemanship. My professional goals are to graduate, begin working in a school (elementary preferred), and then also have a space to teach both therapeutic horsemanship lessons as well as regular riding lessons. I am more of a visual learner, though I do learn better and get more achieved with the help of music. This blog is being created for my EDU 311 course, Digital Learning Applications. In this course I intend to be successful by staying on track, asking questions when I get confused, and using resources provided (handouts, textbooks, etc.) or researching when I need the extra help. 

Outside of academics, I am not really an interesting person, but I work 2 jobs and ride 4-6 horses a week. I am a student tutor or Scotland County Schools as well as a server, hostess and assistant manager at a restaurant local to my house. I also have 3 dogs, though I only intended to have two. Hero, my blue nose pitbull, Axle, my rescue chigi mutt, and Stinky, my foster fail who is believed to be a rottweiler mastiff mix.

With most digital learning, students will be asked to do a larger task and make more of a class contribution. Because of this, students may be more inclined to do more. On the flip side, students may be more resistant to do more if they see it as unnecessary.  As an educator, I do expect to see some resistance from students when asking them to make more of a contribution. I would mostly expect this from the older students (5th-high school), but I can also see the younger students resisting as well. Some students get by doing the minimum and are happy with that. Others may enjoy doing more and creating a greater contribution to the class. My Podcast of Lessons Charlie Brown Taught Us and My view of the Importance of the Legacy of Student Contribution

Students also can collaborate with one another on this and build further understanding of a topic they may think they know about already.  I can see students creating podcasts in the classroom as a great outlet for students who may get nervous doing class presentations. This way, the students can create their podcast in a more comfortable environment where they do not feel like they are being watched.  At any grade level, students can do book reports, research presentations, or even just oral notes on a topic or content area that can be used later as reference or as a presentation tool.   I could set up a podcasting stat...
